Mr. Chiwoni has both local and international exposure, having worked for local (Republic of Malawi) insurance firms and three years in the Republic of Tanzania as an insurance broker. Whilst in Tanzania he was in daily contact with other advanced insurance markets and reputable players such as Lloyds’ Market in London UK, Wills Ltd (UK), RFIB (UK), Lockton (USA), Reinsurance Solutions International Limited (Mauritius), Alexander Forbes (RSA) on Aviation, Marine Stock Through-Put, Banker Blanket Bond and other covers.

In 2013, he rejoined UGI as the General Manager of Operations after serving REAL Insurance of Malawi (now BRITAM) as its Chief Operations Officer.

He was Director-Chairman of Audit and Risk Board sub-committee of Diamond General Insurance Company (Zambia) until December 2016.

Mr. B.B. Chiwoni is a chartered insurer, an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of London, UK, has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and possess close to 20 years of uninterrupted insurance experience.

In 2015, Bywell Blair Chiwoni was appointed as UGI’s Chief Executive Officer. The position he still holds to date.
