Mr. Chugh was the founder president of South Asian Bar Association of Southern California (SABA) in 1995; TiE Southern California in 1997; SABA North America in 2003 (SABANA has 27 chapters representing over 10,000 Indian lawyers in the U.S. and Canada); International Indian Bar Association (IIBA) in 2006; and Indian Lawyers Association in 2017 (ILA - with 100 chapters in India representing 1.3 million lawyers).

He is on the board of HAB Bank, Dhandho Holdings, Pratham USA, 1947 Partition Archives, and newspaper India Journal. He has served on the boards of TiE Global, American India Foundation (AIF), Ignify Consulting (sold to Hitachi), Sikh Center of OC, India Community Center (Silicon Valley), and Asia Society. He is a member of U.S. India Business Council (USIBC), Indiaspora, and the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).

He is married to Ritu Chugh, who holds a MBA and teaches Marketing at Long Beach College. Their two kids are Veeraj, 23 and Sabrina, 21.
