Mr. Ngowi is a founding partner of East African Law Chambers. He established the firm in 2005. Before that Ngowi has been working with one of the reputable law firm in Tanzania as an associate where he had joined since 2002. Mr. Ngowi holds an LLB (Hons) degree from the University of Dar es salaam and Masters in Business Administration
After his graduation from the University of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Ngowi worked as an intern at the Attorney General’s Chambers for six months and later joined private law firm.
Mr. Ngowi has also been trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Ngowi has gained experience in issues of competition law, commercial litigation, merger and acquisition, land law and real property, labour laws and arbitration.
Mr. Ngowi is an advocate of the High Court of Tanzania since 2003 and is qualified to practice law both in Tanzania Mainland and in Zanzibar. Mr. Ngowi is also qualified as an arbitrator since 2013. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and also an active member of the Tanzania Institute of Arbitration. Also Mr. Ngowi is an Arbitrator registered with the National Construction Council of Tanzania. Mr. Ngowi is a country representative of Africa Labour Law Society.
Mr. Ngowi is an active member of Tanganyika Law Society, the Zanzibar Law Society, the East African Law Society, Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and in the panel of arbitrators by National Construction Council.
Mr. Ngowi has Wide experience in Commercial Litigation, Competition laws, employment laws, and arbitration. He has a wide experience in litigation not only in courts but also in different tribunals which adjudicate on compliance of different laws and regulations.
He has been advising and representing a number of clients including public authorities in courts, commissions and tribunals. He has good experience on matters involving breach of contracts, commercial disputes, mining, competitions, regulatory issues, retrenchment, collective agreement, terms of employment, and employment law generally.
Juvenalis Ngowi has been ranked by international ranking firms to be one of the best lawyers in Tanzania (Litigation). For example, Chambers & Partners has ranked him as a leader in his filed in Tanzania and his firm (East African Law Chambers) was recommended by IFLR 1000 and is ranked in tire 2 in Financial and Corporate Practice.
Mr. Ngowi is also an Arbitrator recognised by Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and National Construction Council. He is trained by Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).
